Verbly

When to use it

Use it when the action is after now and sounds more definite than aller + infinitive: je partirai demain.

How to recognise it

The endings look like forms of avoir attached to the future stem: -ai, -as, -a, -ons, -ez, -ont.

How to form it

Use the infinitive as the stem for many verbs, then add -ai, -as, -a, -ons, -ez, -ont. Drop the final -e from -re verbs.

A simple rule

Irregular future stems are worth memorizing early: être -> ser-, avoir -> aur-, aller -> ir-, faire -> fer-.

Examples

Je parlerai demain.

I will speak tomorrow.

Ils finiront plus tard.

They will finish later.
